On June 18th, Dalisay Collection’s founder Pristine Lampard, was honored to be nominated as one of VOGUE Circle's Women Creatives to Watch. The celebration was co-hosted by Vogue Hong Kong and Audemars Piguet in K11 Musea, where Dalisay Collection launched its first pop-up store unveiling in March 2021.
Over the years, she has been at the forefront of encouraging social equality across diversified sectors – from education to now furniture making, bringing Filipino craftsmanship on the international stage. Her background in the nonprofit industry took Pristine to various corners of East Africa and Asia as she slowly developed Dalisay Collection's brand values.
During the afternoon tea, she shared her value of “Artistry” by merging together art, culture, and contemporary design. She recognizes the unique craftsmanship of local artisans throughout the Philippines with a first-class yet sensible design language honed in Hong Kong. Her innate penchant for her artistry gave birth to a furniture collective that pays homage to the craftsmanship of Filipino artisans and brings some of the best-handcrafted pieces to homes and businesses in Asia.
In the world of mass manufacturing, Dalisay Collection strives for longevity in every furniture purchase by embracing the principle of the circular economy which in the long run lessens furniture waste and encourages sustainability.
Celebrating the power of next, Pristine inspires the younger generation to stay grounded in their passion and inculcate their inner artistry. In the midst of recent global challenges, the Dalisay Collection team keeps pushing the boundaries of sustainable, evocative design and craftsmanship showing a resilient brand. At the core of what she does, Pristine is humbled to lead a company that improves the lives not only of their clients, but also furniture makers while being mindful of the environment.
View Pristine and Dalisay Collection's feature in VOGUE Hong KongFurniture made from solid wood typically entails a slightly higher upfront investment than furniture made from wood laminate or wood veneer but it’s worth every single dollar spent.
Let’s compare:
Laminate
Despite sometimes being referred to as wood laminate, laminate is not real wood. Laminate is a material that is made by compressing together layers of heavy-duty paper to create a piece that hardens into resin. While laminate is a relatively affordable & durable material that’s also customizable, you pay for it in other ways. Among all materials, laminate is the least eco-friendly option with its large carbon footprint and relatively hard to recycle material resulting in a poor life-cycle. If you dent or damage laminate, it can’t be repaired. It also can’t be sanded, stained, or reconstructed the way real wood can. It simply isn't as strong as solid hardwoods and its synthetic wooden patterns are incomparable to the beautiful grains of solid wood.
Wood Veneer
Wood Veneer is made by gluing together thin layers of wood over a thick core. The core is usually made with furniture-grade MDF or some other material. It’s often referred to as a sustainable option because it doesn’t require as much wood as solid wood furniture. This however, won’t provide you the same durability that solid wood can, which may defeat any sustainability efforts if your piece doesn’t last. Veneer is highly susceptible to water damage and because it’s only glued to its core, the water can seep in and cause bubbles to form on the top layers. It’s much more difficult to repair when damaged, especially if layers of the veneer start to peel. While it may be a stable option for moving pieces such as drawers and cupboards, solid wood is still your best option when it comes to furniture that can be loved by many generations.
Solid Wood
Furniture made from solid wood can be loved and enjoyed much longer than furniture made with laminate or wood veneer. It is naturally durable and very sturdy, making it less prone to breakage. Most importantly, when it does get damaged, it can easily be repaired or reused in new designs. It can also be easily refreshed with a quick sanding and restaining or painting. Solid wood is an easy choice for those who want to make more sustainable choices in furnishing their homes and have pieces that last for generations
Another benefit of solid wood is that each piece of furniture, regardless of its design, is one-of-a-kind because of the unique wood grain on each piece. Unlike other types of furniture, you won’t get those generic & synthetic printed wood patterns on solid wood.
Solid wood simply elevates any space it’s in.
At Dalisay Collection, our choices of using solid wood in our furniture pieces have durability, aesthetics, and circular design in mind. By focusing on locally-sourced, natural wood that our makers have known and worked with for generations, we not only create better quality pieces, but we create them more sustainably too.
Each material, whether reclaimed or salvaged, is made fresh in the minds of our award-winning Hong Kong designers and is brought to life by the impeccable craftsmanship of our Filipino makers. These beautiful pieces are all made with you and your homes in mind. We make sturdy and durable furniture that can be loved and enjoyed by you over and over again. We believe that when furniture is made well, it can be shared by many people for generations -- a true hallmark of circular design.
Our range of solid wood is a combination of different woods that can be found in the Philippines and are known to be durable choices for long-lasting furniture.

However, we know that’s not always possible in smaller living spaces. Don’t be afraid to break the rules andchoose the correct sofa size based on your needs. If you’re after having more floor space in your living area, choose a smaller size but if you prefer entertaining, lounging, or have a larger family, then choose a larger size. Either way, the size of the sofa you choose should serve you and your lifestyle. With beautiful Dalisay Collection designs, you can’t go wrong

At Dalisay Collection we created our S-Table-03 Volcanic Side Table as a homage to the thrilling beauty of this dramatic but devastating event and to honor the makers that work with the material masterfully. The bottom piece is made of volcanic stone that takes four days of chiseling by local artisans to reveal the unique colors of each stone used, before being matched with an acacia wood top. The masterful art of hand chiseling, the raw stone colorings, and the unique wood grain of each Acacia wood used makes each piece one-of-a-kind. But we don’t stop there. At Dalisay Collection, we believe in aesthetics with ethics.
One of our values is conscious design and creating with circular design principles in mind. This piece is no different. The use of volcanic stone was intentional not only because of its unique aesthetic but also because of its natural abundance in areas close to where most of our artisans live. The stone itself must be harvested to avoid clogging local rivers that lead to flooding in surrounding areas. The top piece on the other hand is made from salvaged acacia wood, a very durable material from felled trees following typhoons.
These materials are given new life in Dalisay Collection’s design. We created a piece that carries the human spirit of strength and brings it to your home, a piece that embodies beauty and resiliency in the midst of catastrophes.

The Story Behind DACO
A frequent traveler, Pristine Lampard started Dalisay Collection on the heels of her career in non-profit and social enterprises in Asia and East Africa. Finding that she always brought memorable pieces from her travels back to her home in Hong Kong, Pristine decided to curate a furniture collection that invariably imbued that same special feeling. Most importantly, she sought to create pieces that acknowledged and celebrated their origins – the people, techniques and materials behind them – over the course of generations.
To bring the DACO concept to life, Pristine embarked on numerous sourcing trips to the Philippines, meeting with specialised craftsmen across different regions to develop a strong network of local artisans. With a mind to create one-of-a-kind pieces with both uncommon character and timeless appeal, Pristine enlisted the services of seasoned interdisciplinary designers Peter Lampard and Norman Ung, the co-founders of DEFT, to help realise her vision.
Defying limiting labels and eschewing overly trendy styles, together the trio organically refined the DACO design aesthetic. Inspired by the artistic and technical prowess of the Filipino craftsmen, the beauty of locally sourced materials, and the Hong Kong lifestyle and the spaces we call home, DACO pieces have an original heritage and style unlike any other.
